The leader of the French extreme right National, Marine Le Pen, invited Zlatan to leave the country after the Swedish striker yesterday called France to “shitty country”.
“Those who think that France is a country of shit can go, it’s that simple,” said Le Pen in France Info radio. Other politicians also criticized the statements made by the footballer but not dwell on the controversy. One of the figures of the left wing ruling Socialist Party, Jérôme Guedj, also described the comments as “unacceptable” and that Zlatan should just play football and to shut up, or at least be respectful of this country,” he said. On Sunday, after his team lost in the field of Girondins de Bordeaux, the Swede said: “I’ve been playing for 15 years and I’ve never seen [good] refereeing in this shit country. They don’t even deserve PSG in this country”.
His comment was filmed by a television camera. Zlatan Ibrahimovic later apologized in a statement. It is expected that the French League punish the Swede.
His outburst came less than a week after he accused Chelsea players of acting “like babies” after he was sent off during PSG’s Champions League victory on away goals.
