Barcelona has qualified for their fifth Copa del Rey final in over seven years today after beating Villarreal 3-1 at El Madrigal. Neymar Jr. scored two goals and Luis Suarez added the third for the Blaugrana’s win.
Luis Enrique’s very strong lineup demonstrated that despite the comfortable advantage achieved at the Camp Nou in the first leg, Barcelona was not prepared to take any chances whatsoever. The Catalans’ focus was obvious and helped them start the game in style, with Neymar scoring in only three minutes of the game.
Suarez made the numerical advantage count when he restored Barca’s lead, rounding Asenjo and tapping home, before Neymar’s header completed a relatively routine encounter for Luis Enrique’s side. While the hosts made their fans proud by constantly pushing forward and often taking the game to Barca’s defence but overcoming a 4-1 aggregate deficit was simply too much to ask for.
